Welcome to my online teaching portfolio! I have compiled information from various assignments during my college career. The links on the menu will take you to various sections. Thank you for taking the time to review my qualifications and experiences. About Me Growing up in a small town in Arizona, I have dreamed since a young child of becoming a teacher. As early as I can remember, I played school with my siblings, assigning work and grading it. I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to obtain my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and currently I am working toward a Masters Degree in Special Education. Though the course work is demanding at times, the experiences that I have had and the knowledge learned will follow me throughout my life and career. Overall, I would have to consider my college education as a renewal of a dream, a dream that have I worked hard for and many times thought was impossible to obtain. My college career started like many others, I attended college straight out of high school with high hopes and dreams. However, the demands of a full-time work schedule forced me put off my college career. Eventually I was able to return and have attended college while maintaining employment with Coconino Community College. My professional goals include both short term and long term goals for myself as a future educator. For my short term goals, I plan to solidify a position in public education where I can grow as a professional educator. An additional goal of mine that embodies both a short term and a long term time frame is making a difference with the students in my classroom as well as in the community in which I will be teaching. Long term goals of mine include finishing my education by obtaining a Masters’ degree in Special Education. An additional long term goal that I have set is to further my knowledge of Spanish in order to assist future parents and students whose native language is Spanish. I also plan to make contributions to the curriculum in the school system in which I teach either through a future position in the curriculum department or through other means such as serving on committees. I would like to end with one last, most important goal: to make a difference in the lives of each and every student I teach. On a more personal note, I am married and my husband and I have four beautiful children that we enjoy spending as much time as possible with. While spending time with my family we enjoy volunteering with various organizations such as Northern Arizona Youth Cheer, Girl Scouts of America, and American Youth Soccer Organization. I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking and playing cheerleader to my family. |
